Erdevik Winery

When the time comes to make a concept of a wine tourist tour that shall encompass vineyards between Ilok and Irig, wine cellars and villas that used to belong to the noble house of Odeskalki, while Erdevik Winery (Vinarija Erdevik), currently owned by the MK Group,  will become an unavoidable stop along this route. That place radiates uniqueness.

The lake Bruje and Kulina Spa (Izvor Banja), which keeps the remains of the Roman thermae, are located in the immediate vicinity of the winery. The entire area is located within the still preserved forests of Fruška Gora. The beauty and richness of nature that surrounds the Erdevik Winery is equal to the richness of created values that the winery inherits today and that bear an economic, cultural, historical and tourist significance.

The labyrinth of wine cellars, the oldest part of which was constructed in 1826 by count Livio Odeskalki, is placed underneath contemporary arranged venues of winery dominated by barrique hall with its shear size and richness of decoration. The winery is a unique museum of winemaking where it is possible to trace the methods of processing and preservation of wine through time.

The wines made by Erdevik Winery are an additional exclusivity that is made in the vineyards located in the surroundings of Erdevik and Krčedin out of the following assortment [1] of grapes: Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay (Krčedin) and Grašac, Tamjanika, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris (Erdevik). The winery offers the following wines: Marlon Delon, Stifler’s Mom, Grand Trianon, Trianon, Omnibus Lector, Roza Nostra, Ex Cathedra, Bella Novela, Geronimo, Tri Roze Koze, Tri Bele Koze, Tri Crvene Koze and Deux Mers. The above-mentioned wines are classified as high quality, authentic wines that vibrate with powerful essences of Fruška Gora terroir and that have with their recognizable properties won over the contemporary connoisseurs and wine fans in the country and abroad over night. The wines from this winery have been awarded multifold, while the praises for such success go out to the entire team headed by the oenologist Tatjana Đuričić who has made this winery her primary place of employment.

The already historical success of the barrique style made Chardonnay  Omnibus Lector (2015), that was awarded the most important-platinum recognition, the first of such a high ranked recognitions for the Serbian wine making at the most prestigious wine exhibition in the world, the  Decanter World Wine Awards London, 2019 certainly did  not come as a coincidence. At the same time, Roza Nostra (2017) is the first rose wine from Serbia, (the blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) that was awarded the silver recognition at the Decanter WWA.

If we add to that the fact that the world renowned wine arbiter, Marc Squires highly rated the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot called Marlon Delon (2016),  Shiraz Stifler’s Mom (2016)  and the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz called Grand Trianon (2016) at a specialized platform Wine Advocate it is no surprise that the position of  the Erdevik Winery ha changed on a global market along with a potentially new perception of wine  of the entire Fruška Gora vineyards at an international level.

The path towards the picky global wine market was open, while the wines made by Erdevik Winery found themselves among the recognizable wines of Italian and French wine regions, as well as those from California. The fact that the above-mentioned path has not been easy is best illustrated by the maxima  “per angusta ad augusta“ inscribed on Erdevik wine labels which together with creative names of wines and Pope heraldic insignia as a reminder of the family Odeskalki make a part of a successful marketing communication with the foreign connoisseurs and wine lovers.

The success obliges, therefore the plans for the upcoming period are complex and they include the improvement of viticulture as well as tourist offer. The part of the plan includes the hotel accommodation, as well as the wine tasting hall with the part intended for purchase of wine.

The integral part of the Erdevik Winery is the Erdevik Estate Gastro Chalet, as an exclusive à la carte restaurant, with superb offer of food and drinks. It is a favourite place of good connoisseurs of wine that can enjoy the possibility of creating the selection and combination of dishes and accompanying wine.
