Fridays at TONS: Charity Tasting of Traditional Local Brandies (Rakija)

This week, the “Fridays at TONS” event brings together tradition, local flavors, and a great cause. Visitors and tourists are invited to discover and sample premium, artisanal rakija (traditional fruit brandy) crafted using time-honored recipes by local family-run distilleries.
The event also carries a strong community focus—all proceeds from rakija sales throughout the evening will be donated to the “Tate Novosađani” Charity Foundation.
Three prominent local distilleries will be showcasing their selection:
- Sekulić Distillery – Featuring their premium line, including the “Racka” quince brandy and the oak-aged “Racka Barrique” (2020 vintage). Visitors can also learn about the traditional fruit distillation and barrel-aging process.
- Pira 021 – Bringing a diverse range of flavors from the Fruška Gora region, including quince, apricot, pear, and plum brandies. Their highlight is “Medica”—a unique blend of plum brandy and natural Negotin honey, bridging the distinct flavors of two different geographic regions.
- Benišek – Veselinović – A heritage distillery presenting their fine quince, grape (loza), and pear brandies. They will shine a special spotlight on “Kaluđerka”—a premium brandy made entirely from 100% organic, untreated Kaluđerka pears, highlighting the importance of eco-friendly, sustainable agriculture.
