“Flag of Freedom” Exhibition

200th Anniversary of the Birth of Svetozar Miletić
To mark the bicentenary of the birth of one of the most prominent figures in Serbian history, a major exhibition entitled “Flag of Freedom” opens in Novi Sad. Curated by Museum Advisor Suzana Milovanović, this special display is dedicated to the life and legacy of Svetozar Miletić – a renowned lawyer, Mayor of Novi Sad, and distinguished political leader of the Serbs in Vojvodina.
A Relentless Champion of Freedom and Rights
Through museum artefacts and historical material, the “Flag of Freedom” exhibition showcases Miletić’s tireless struggle for national rights, the founding of the Serbian National Liberal Party, and the establishment of the “Zastava” newspaper. The display also pays tribute to his work within the United Serbian Youth and forms part of the broader celebrations marking 200 years since the founding of Matica Srpska.
The grand opening takes place on Monday, 21 September at 1.00 p.m., and the exhibition will remain open until 18 October.
