International Museum Day and European Night of Museums at the Museum of Vojvodina
This year, the Museum of Vojvodina in Novi Sad is once again set to become the central hub for cultural events celebrating International Museum Day and the European Night of Museums. Over the course of the nine-day programme, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the region’s rich cultural heritage in a fresh, interactive way through a series of educational events, exhibitions, and workshops.
Ask the Curators and Discover the Secrets of the Museum World
A special highlight of this year’s programme is Saturday, 23 May. From 18:00 to 22:00, curators at the Museum of Vojvodina will welcome visitors to the permanent exhibitions, ready to engage in conversation and reveal fascinating details not found in academic literature. This offers a unique opportunity to learn how an exhibition is actually created, discover which item from the collection holds the most unusual story, or find out what lies behind seemingly simple exhibits. Direct interaction with experts allows visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the historical context and the value of the heritage that the Museum of Vojvodina has preserved for over two centuries.
A Programme Tailored for All Generations
Alongside the discussions with curators, International Museum Day and the European Night of Museums will feature numerous guided tours led by the authors themselves, including exhibitions such as “Two Centuries of Preserving Heritage” and the “Museum of Unification 1918”. Creative workshops have been designed for the youngest visitors, while book lovers can enjoy the exhibition “Ex Libris in the Books of the Matica Srpska Library”. The Museum invites everyone to seize this opportunity, take a guided tour, and leave enriched by at least one incredible story that the objects alone cannot tell.
