Salaš Farmstead – Wine House Brestovački

The Erdevik area is widely known for its nurtured vineyards that abundantly spread along the Fruška Gora slopes. However, even within the already discovered landscape it is possible to stumble upon refined surprises. One of them is the Salaš Farmstead – Wine House Brestovački (Salaš–Vinska kuća Brestovački) located on the lake Moharač, a place where the nature′s beauty and orderliness of space show healing properties. The brother and sister Bojana and Bojan Brestovački founded the winery and “salaš“ farmstead in 2010 on the land that used to belong to their grandfathers Vasa Brestovački and Franja Singer inspired by the concept based on vineyard experience.

The vineyards owned by Brestovački family spread for the most part in the vicinity of the lake Moharač, hence the reflection of the sun complements to the level of sun glaze directed towards the grapevine stems. The following grape varieties are carefully cultivated[1]: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and Tamjanika, while Pinot Gris is procured from a renowned producer from Erdevik area. The position of the vineyard in the north-south direction, the ideal winds, soil composition, the passion of wine makers, the labour and implementation of modern technology in the process of wine making and preservation bestow an excellent quality upon the wines.

The offer of wines includes: Prkos (Merlot barrique), Pinot Gris Rose, Sauvignon Blanc, Tamjanika, Bermet (white), Bermet (red), Chardonnay and Brestovački gold. The evident proof of quality comes in the form of recognitions, whereas the Brestovački family were awarded with the gold medal for Tamjanika (2019), silver medal for Chardonnay (2019), and bronze medal for Grašac Beli (2019) at the International Wine Fair  BeoWine 2019.

If there was a need to opt for a trademark of this family enterprise, the word “prkos“ (spite) could be taken as an explanation of their effort, spite and desire for better and more beautiful accomplishments, while the beauty born by the flower of Moss-rose purslane, serves as a paradigm of their pursuit after the harmony awaken within us by the nature. The visitors shall enjoy themselves while touring the vineyard, walk to the lake, wine tasting in enclosed part of the facility or in the garden suitable for both whole day enjoyment as well as for the activities for the entire family and most of all in wine and home-made food.

Salaš Farmstead – Wine House Brestovački can receive up to 200 persons in the indoor and garden part of the facility. The wine lowers can expect a tasting ranging from three to five wines subject to prior arrangement, as well as the tale about the Brestovački wines accompanied by adequate snacks: home-made “kulen“, bacon, sausages, bread, goat cheese from Kukujevo, cheese in chestnut leaf, lamb under cast iron casserole, goulash made from game meat, homemade roast, various sweat treats including “tašci“ (a kind of pasta sacks) as a slightly forgotten delicacy served together with Bermet.
