Vranjaš Monastery

The monastery church is dedicated to St. Basil of Ostrog (Vasilije Ostroški) (May 12)

In addition to the Vranjaš spring, whose waters in ancient times supplied Sirmium, a small chapel was built dedicated to Holy Physicians Cosmas and Damian (Sv. Vrači Kozma i Damjan). The figures of these saints – doctors still mark the spring, whose water has been considered healing by the people since ancient times. Above the spring, a church made of Norwegian white pine was built in 2014, dedicated to St. Basil of Ostrog (Sv. Vasilije Ostroški). The patrons are the family Milanković, Senka and Milan, and their early deceased daughter Milena is painted as a patron who hands St. Basil (Sv. Vasilije) a model of the temple. In the temple, names of other benefactors were recorded, which enabled the creation of paintings, iconostasis and furnishings of the church. The monastery konaks were built gradually, and in 2018 the eastern part of the konaks was completed. In the monastery complex there is also a chapel dedicated to St. John of Shanghai. For visitors who come for water and those who want to take a break there, tables and benches have been built, protected from the sun and rain.

Carving of the iconostasis of the monastery church of St. Basil of Ostrog (Sv. Vasilije Ostroški) is the work of a carving workshop from Sombor, and the icons on the iconostasis and the painting were done by Borislav and Marija Živković.

In addition to the church patron saint St. Basil of Ostrog (Sv. Vasilije Ostroški) the monastery commemorates the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles (Silazak Svetog Duha na Apostole)  (Pentecost (Duhovi) or Trinity (Trojice) – the 50th day after Easter) and the Holy Physicians Cosmas and Damian (Sv. Vrači Kozma i Damjan) (July 14). Particles of the relics of the holy martyrs from the Monastery of St. Theodosius the Great of the Judean Desert are kept in the monastery.
