Rhythm of Europe!

May 5 - May 9

Commemorating Victory Day and Europe Day

The Rhythm of Europe! festival is a cornerstone cultural programme through which the Student Cultural Centre Novi Sad (SKCNS) marks Victory Day and Europe Day. Since its inception in 2007, this event has continuously promoted the core values of modern civilisation, bridging historical remembrance with contemporary artistic expression.

Historical Symbolism and the Context of 9 May

The date of 9 May holds dual significance in European history. In 1945, the signing of the German surrender marked the end of the most brutal conflict in human history. Five years later, the Schuman Declaration initiated the process of European integration, laying the groundwork for future cooperation and lasting peace. Rhythm of Europe! highlights the importance of these milestones while nurturing the city’s anti-fascist tradition.

Cultural Content and Regional Significance

The festival features a comprehensive programme, including art exhibitions, panel discussions, educational workshops, and theatre performances. A particular highlight is the major concert, which annually draws eminent performers and large audiences. Over the years, Rhythm of Europe! has evolved into one of the region’s most prominent events of its kind, offering all citizens free access to high-quality cultural content.
