“Radnički: Then and Now” Exhibition

September 10 - September 20

The History of a Symbol Through the Decades

Organised by the Museum of Vojvodina and Vega IT, the exhibition “Radnički: Then and Now” takes visitors on a journey through more than half a century of history surrounding this iconic Novi Sad building. The display features archival material, photographs, original items, and video footage documenting the rich history of the Workers’ University, the period following the fire, and its modern restoration.

A Symbol of Education and Culture

For decades, the Workers’ University served as a central hub for non-formal education and a gathering place across generations. It was a space where people acquired new skills, learned foreign languages, and developed publishing ventures. It was home to Radio 021, the children’s festival Raspustilište, the Svetovi bookstore, and the iconic Panorama, all of which played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s cultural landscape.

Personal Stories as Part of the Exhibition

Beyond official archives, the exhibition “Radnički: Then and Now” brings the personal memories of local citizens to life, weaving their recollections into this historic narrative. For those wishing to learn more about the transformation of this space, expert curator-led tours will take place on 10, 18, and 20 September, starting at 18:00.
