Fridays at TONS (September 4)
Novi Sad Dances with Marković
As part of the Fridays at TONS event series, the plateau in front of the Tourism Organisation of the City of Novi Sad at Trg Slobode (Liberty Square) will become a vibrant hub of traditional song and dance. On Friday, 25 September, from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m., the “Svetozar Marković” Cultural and Artistic Society will host an interactive programme entitled “Novi Sad Dances with Marković”.
A Blend of Tradition Across All Generations
Rather than a conventional concert, the event offers a dynamic open-air experience. Liberty Square will showcase consecutive performances by all sections of the society—from the youngest ensembles to the veterans—accompanied by a vocal group, choir, and orchestra. The highlight of the event will be a group photograph bringing together all generations at 6.00 p.m.
Visitors will enjoy a showcase of traditional folk costumes from Serbia and Vojvodina, alongside hands-on workshops where they can learn the steps of the Bačko and Užičko kolo (traditional ring dance). The Fridays at TONS event also features a dedicated photo zone, allowing visitors to take photos with the performers and receive information about joining the society.
