Fridays at TONS: Traditional Crafts
The Tourism Organisation of the City of Novi Sad continues its initiative to showcase local creators. The new event, “Fridays at TONS: Traditional Crafts”, is dedicated to preserving cultural heritage and the mastery of handmade craftsmanship through direct interaction with the public.
Demonstration of Traditional Skills and Hand-Weaving
On Friday from 17:00, the Tourist Info Centre space will transform into a living workshop. Members of the Traditional Crafts Section of the Novi Sad Association of Craftsmen, including “Studio Preplet” and “Handmade by Dragana Uvalić”, will demonstrate their skills. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch the live process of hand-weaving on a loom and discover how true works of art come to life through interwoven threads. Alongside the live demonstration, unique handmade items will be exhibited – ranging from cotton scarves and bags to jewellery that beautifully blends traditional craftsmanship with modern design.
Preserving Heritage and Supporting Artisans
The “Fridays at TONS: Traditional Crafts” event champions local artisans and safeguards the cultural heritage of Novi Sad. Through this initiative, the Tourism Organisation enriches the city’s tourism offerings with experiences that celebrate creativity, authenticity, and a spirit of togetherness.
