FemminiCity International Festival in Novi Sad

Following two years of successful international cooperation, the major European project FemminiCity is reaching its finale in Novi Sad. Across three days of theatre, educational events, and preventative activities, the event focuses on the position of women in contemporary society. Visitors to the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad will be able to follow programmes featuring artists from France, Slovenia, Romania, Poland, and Serbia.

Theatre Programme and Art Installations

The festival features five different theatre performances dealing with topical issues—ranging from the fight against domestic violence and gender inequality to the invisible labour of parents and social taboos. Accompanying programmes include the powerful installation “She Still Won’t Come” featuring thirteen empty chairs symbolising the victims of femicide, as well as the exhibition “She Is Generated” by author Tijana Jević.

Education and Preventative Activities

As part of the educational segment, an expert lecture on recognising patterns of violence will be held. Marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the project also makes a concrete contribution to health prevention. A mobile unit for free breast ultrasound examinations for younger women will be set up at Katolička Porta (Catholic Courtyard) Square, with the support of relevant healthcare institutions.
