This year, the European Night of Museums at the Gallery of Matica Srpska event once again brings an exceptionally rich and diverse cultural and artistic programme. On Saturday, 23 May, one of the oldest and most important national museum institutions will open its doors for extended hours, offering visitors free admission to events and activities tailored for all generations.

The day begins with the traditional “Coffee with the Director” conversation featuring Dr Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski, followed by the official opening of a children’s exhibition dedicated to the creative work of Lazar Vozarević, featuring a performance by the “Pikolo” children’s choir. The afternoon hours are reserved for educational art-themed board games and a concert by students from the “Isidor Bajić” Music School.

A special highlight for the public is the Open Conservation Studio, where visitors will have the opportunity to see how the works of Aksentije Marodić are restored. The evening segments feature expert guided tours by the authors through the current “Kaleidoscope” exhibition and the permanent display “The Art Collection of Matica Srpska”. The programme concludes with a personal reflection by journalist Vesna Farkaš on two centuries of Serbian art through the permanent exhibition of GMS.
