The Belgrade and Dortmund philharmonic orchestras will alternate in performing eight symphonies, with several breaks, at the City Concert Hall on 26 June from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., as part of the NEO festival. The “Ninth Symphony” will be performed as a big open-air concert at 8:22 p.m.
The Beethoven Marathon unites four cities, two of them twin towns – Dortmund and Novi Sad, which share a similar historical background of the 20th century. Novi Sad, Belgrade, Dortmund (Germany), and Brno (Slovakia) are joining in one of the biggest undertakings of the European Capital of Culture – performing nine Beethoven symphonies in Novi Sad in one day.
The culmination of the Beethoven Marathon will be the “Ninth Symphony” and the famous “Ode to Joy”, in honour of Europe and European heritage, which will be performed by the Belgrade and Dortmund philharmonic orchestras, the Slovak Philharmonic Choir, along with four solo singers from the Netherlands, Austria, and the USA.
Venue: City Concert Hall
