Odrovački Winery

In the main Rivica Street named after Maršal Tito, just across the Church of St. George from the 18th century, there is the Odrovački family household and the winery of the same name. When you enter this Srem household, you will notice the traditional order in which life and work take place for generations: a spacious house with a yard where people sit and rest under an old mulberry tree, “kotarka” (corn storage facility) and a winery next to it, followed by part designated to traditional jobs connected with fruit growing, farming and animal husbandry.

The organization of life can still be seen in the Odrovački family, when the family co-operative produced almost everything it needed, so even today, father Slobodan, sons Veljko and Sava, and perhaps the next generation of the Odrovački family, write a tradition that is disappearing.

The family Odrovački has not only preserved a part of Srem’s heritage, which remembers that almost every house had its own wine, but they also intensified the production of grapes and wine, arranged the wine cellar in a way that much larger wineries could envy them and opened a household for wine lovers.

On three hectares of vineyards, the family Odrovački grows the following assortment of grapes[1]: Italian Riesling, Vranac, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscat Hamburg. The following wines are on offer: SaVino Italian Riesling, SaVino Vranac, SaVino Cabernet Sauvignon and SaVino Rose. These are young, fresh wines of a fruity character that are made partly in the traditional way, and partly using modern oenological means under the supervision of the oenologist Jovan Popov.

However, Sava Odrovački, the owner of the winery, vineyard keeper and winemaker creates first a healthy grape variety with love and sacrifice, and with knowledge taken from the family tradition begins wine production in a way that the end result is the satisfaction and pride in the wines offered. This is confirmed by the following awards: January Wine Fair Temerin 2017 (big gold medal for SaVino Italian Riesling 2016), and several consecutive awards for SaVino Italian Riesling awarded with a gold medal at the Wine Days in Rivica 2019, 2020 and in 2021.

Wines of the family Odrovački carry quality that lasts because the work and an honest attitude towards the work they do are a trademark of this family, so they are an indispensable part of the celebrations and Sunday meals of many wine lovers from Novi Sad, Belgrade, Šabac, Rivica …

Wine cellar with wine tasting hall fro about twenty people are available to the lovers of wine and Srem stories of Odrovački Winery (Vinarija Odrovački). It is a pleasant place where numerous awards won by the wines of this house are exhibited, along with all bottled wines of the house, which creates an ambience that exudes some past times reminiscent of photographs of Odrovačkis showing the work in the vineyard, cheerful grape pickers from the time when every work was blessed with many diligent hands.

A neat and spacious cellar full of barrels with wine captivates with abundance. The programme of the visit includes a tour of the winery with mandatory announcement, wine tasting with appropriate snacks for wine separation, a story about house wines and wine purchase, and a tour of the vineyards upon a prior announcement.

Announcement is mandatory for organised groups. It is possible to buy wine every day, including weekends.
