Akademia Modele Ltd. is a winery founded in 2009 by Nemanja Popović as an eighteen-year-old. When someone from a completely urban milieu, outside the family winemaking experience, decides that the vineyard and wine making are to become his or her destiny and succeeds in that, then it means that those aspirations that are fiercely defended with love by the whole being are achievable. Today, the Akademia Modele d.o.o winery is an endeavour that unites two generations of Popovićs and happily awaits the third, which is coming soon.
The basis on which Popović’s family story is built are the vineyards in Banoštor and Čerević and the assortment of grapes that consist of[1]: Pinot Gris, Italian Riesling, Chardonnay, Merlot, Frankovka, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Hamburg. Carefully nurtured vineyard gives a good yield of grapes, which is reduced to 2-2.5 kg per grapevine stem and turned into 1-1.5 litres of wine with all the properties of Fruška Gora terroir.
The wines of the house – Sol Nostri Riesling 2020, Sol Nostri Chardonnay 2020, Sol Nostri Rose 2020 and Sol Nostri Merlot Cabernet Franc express the gratitude to the sun with their names since it gives them intensity and permanence. The red wines of this house are a variant of the burgundy blend, while the white wines adorn the consistency of taste and the optimality of acids. These are strong wines, and the blend of Merlot and Cabernet has a specific rustic character.
The wines of the Academia Modele are united by the aspiration of the owner to make wines that he will be proud of, those that will find their way to wine lovers and win a place at wine fairs. At the Grand Wine Evaluation of Serbia in 2021, in the category “White still wines from international non-aromatic varieties”, the wine of the house Sol Nostri Chardonnay 2020 won a silver award.
The winery has a tasting area that is currently located at an arranged covered terrace that can accommodate 15 people. A tasting room is under construction. The programme for visitors includes a tour of the winery with mandatory announcement, tasting with a story about the wines of the house and the purchase of wine. Visitors are softened, delighted, and their attention is often stolen by Bela, a Bernardine female, who is extremely gentle and caring towards adults, especially children.
