The restaurant “Balkan Express 021” is located at the site of the first brewery in the territory of Serbia, under the Petrovaradin Fortress on Kamenica road, tucked into dense vegetation. The portions are abundant and one thing is for sure – you will not leave this place with an empty stomach. The restaurant offers fish and meat specialties, salads and domestic wines. Popular dishes are Karađorđe steak, veal head in tripe, “tavče na gravče” (traditional Macedonian dish with beans), kajmak (cottage cream) and tripe in sauce. The two of certainly most interesting dishes are Njegoševa steak and Balkan Express train (mixed grilled meat) for two persons. The sweets they offer include pancakes, walnut baklava and “tufahije” (Bosnian walnut stuffed apples). The interior of the restaurant is filled with photographs and pictures as a reminder of rich history of this area: that of Eugene of Savoy, soldiers passing through or stationed at Petrovaradin Fortress… The things that will definitely capture the attention of the guests in the lower part of the restaurant are several barber chairs, as well as coat of arms of Petrovaradin. The guests may enjoy in the tunes of two acoustic guitars on Fridays and Saturdays and if they express a desire they may even hear the tunes of tambura.
