Vinča Code: Immersive Soundspace (December)

The project “Vinča Code: Immersive Soundspace” is realised within the framework of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and serves as a virtual multimedia installation for VR devices. During the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the details regarding the installation’s creation within the gallery space. Additionally, using available Meta Quest VR headsets, they can access the virtual installation as well as an immersive VR180 musical performance. At the heart of the installation lies the visual symbol IMI, which some researchers believe represented the entrance to a temple in the Vinča culture. Through a series of free associations, this symbol—along with others—is interwoven with English words and coloured in grey and blue tones, creating a “field of signs” open to multiple interpretations. The music, composed specifically for this occasion for two guitars, is inspired by melodies from the Orthodox Octoechos (Osmoglasnik).
The project creator is Momčilo Aleksandrić, a Serbian guitarist and composer living and working in the United States. The project is organized by the Association of Guitarists of Vojvodina, in partnership with the Slovenian Guitar Quartet led by Izidor Erazem Grafenauer.
Visitors can access the multimedia installation and VR trials daily between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM from December 15 to 22, 2025, and from January 8 to 15, 2026.
Venue: Creative District – French Institute
