Novi Sad Theatre Games
In the second week of May, Novi Sad plays host to the Novi Sad Theatre Games, an international festival of professional theatres for children and young people. This competitive festival was established during the year Novi Sad held the title of European Capital of Culture, marking the 90th anniversary of the Youth Theatre. It brings together theatre companies and artists from across the globe.
The festival’s aim is to promote theatre arts for children and youth, strengthen international cultural exchange, and encourage the development of contemporary theatrical expression. Throughout the festival, audiences have the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of theatrical forms and watch the finest performances for children and young people from various countries.
An international expert jury presents awards for Best Overall Performance, as well as for Best Direction, Acting Excellence, and Masterful Animation. Additionally, three special awards are granted for various aspects of theatrical creation, such as music, stage movement, ensemble performance, text, set design, costume design, and puppet design.
