Ignjat Pavlas Memorial
January 18
The Ignjat Pavlas Memorial is a traditional activity of the Mountaineering Association of Vojvodina organized by the mountaineering society “Poštar” from Novi Sad. The memorial is dedicated to Dr. Ignjat Pavlas (1887 – 1942), one of the most influential figures in the field of mountaineering and the founder of the first mountaineering society in Vojvodina. The society was founded in 1924, and one of the peaks of Fruška Gora is named after its founder – Pavlasov Čot (peak, 531 meters above sea level). The activity is carried out on an 8-kilometer hiking trail called “Pavlas Circle”. Flowers are laid at Pavlasov Čot and a tribute is paid to Dr. Ignjat Pavlas.
Venue: Fruška Gora, start and finish at Beočin Monastery
