Exhibition Reflections: Collection of Photographs at the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection
With the exhibition and accompanying catalogue Reflections: The Photography Collection of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection, curated by the senior curator Jasmina Jakšić Subić, this bequest continues its aim of making the artefacts held in its museum fund accessible to the public, both specialists and the general public. The complex and heterogeneous content of the Collection encompasses a full century of photographic production, from the close of the 19th century until the ninth decade of the 20th century, a period during which photography became an important part of visual culture and a means of recording various aspects of life. Through this Collection, one can follow its commercialisation, the development of technical innovations, its accessibility to a wider audience, and its use for portraiture, event documentation, and the capture of personal memories. The main body of the Photography Collection is made up of items from the estate of Pavle Beljanski, which his heirs donated to the museum in 1966, and today it preserves over 400 objects.
