Children’s New Year
The traditional city Children’s New Year celebration is held on 31 December during the day and includes a city carnival, a music and stage programme in the Icy Forest, and the release of a thousand children’s wish balloons from Dunavski (Danube) Park. The programme begins at 10.00 at the Zmaj Jova monument in Zmaj Jovina Street, where a gathering of children and New Year carnival participants will be welcomed by “Haos Animatori” and stilt walkers from the “Omaja” Performing Arts Centre. At 10.30, the New Year’s procession, led by animators, will set off down Dunavska Street towards Dunavski (Danube) Park, where they will be greeted at 11.00 on the stage by Magician Luka and his magical “Magic show” performance. Exactly at noon, the audience and animators will together release a thousand balloons carrying the most beautiful children’s wishes for 2026. Following the release of the wish balloons, the New Year’s concert for children featuring “Duo Sensa” will begin at exactly noon.
For everyone who would like to try their hand at skating, the opening hours of the ice rink in the Icy Forest on 31 December are from 09.00 to 18.30, while on 1 January, the rink will be open from 11.00 to 22.30.
