Outstanding Tourism Indicators: Novi Sad Records Double-Digit Growth in Visitor Numbers

June 1, 2026

Thanks to a strong synergy and the joint efforts of the Tourism Organisation of the City of Novi Sad and the entire local tourism industry – from restaurateurs and hoteliers to all other stakeholders who welcome guests on a daily basis – Novi Sad continues to consolidate its position as one of the most attractive destinations in the region. This collaborative work and dedication have yielded outstanding results, as best confirmed by the latest statistical data for the first four months of 2026. The achieved growth in tourism turnover testifies to the excellent response from both domestic and international visitors, as well as the high competitiveness and quality of our city’s overall tourism offer.

Record Number of Visitors and Overnight Stays

Between January and April, Novi Sad welcomed a total of 60,627 tourists, representing a significant jump of 14.9% compared to the same period last year. This strong and positive trend is equally visible across all visitor profiles. Specifically, the number of domestic visitors rose by 15.5%, while the number of international tourists increased by 14.5%.

Alongside arrivals, an impressive 11.2% growth in overnight stays was also recorded, totalling 158,046 overnights in the first four months. Domestic tourists generated a 14.3% increase in overnight stays, while international tourists saw a 9.9% rise, indicating that visitors are extending their length of stay in the city.

Spring Momentum in April

The spring tourist season provided an additional boost. In April alone, 20,544 tourists stayed in the city, marking a 10.6% growth compared to April last year. Interest in Novi Sad continues to rise among domestic guests, whose numbers jumped by 12.2% in April, as well as among international visitors, who recorded a 9% increase. Particularly significant is the fact that domestic tourists generated as much as 14.1% more overnight stays during this month.

A World in Miniature: From Europe to Exotic Destinations

The fact that the city is becoming increasingly visible to tourists from all corners of the globe is further confirmed by the high footfall at the Tourist Information Centre of the Tourism Organisation of the City of Novi Sad, which has welcomed 2,676 tourists since the beginning of the year. Alongside visitors from across Europe, Novi Sad was also discovered in April by travellers from far-flung countries such as Morocco, Ghana, Mexico, Bolivia, and Brazil.

Economic Benefits of Tourism Growth

The growing interest in the city’s tourism offer is also reflecting positively on the local economy. In April, tourist tax revenues reached approximately 5 million dinars, representing a powerful surge of as much as 38% compared to the same month last year. These outstanding results serve as the ultimate confirmation of the quality of our tourism offer and provide a strong incentive for the further promotion of Novi Sad on the international stage.
