The Danube provides exceptional opportunities for many sports, especially rowing and kayaking. Also, this is one of the few places where the conditions for sailing on the river are suitable, given that the Danube has sufficient width here, and there are several distributaries where the water is extremely calm. Recreational activities on the Danube are organised by sports associations and nautical clubs, and members of the clubs are top athletes who compete in numerous domestic and international competitions. For tourists, kayak tours of the Special Nature Reserve Koviljsko-Petrovaradinski Rit, Rakovački Dunavac and other destinations on the Danube are organised.
The Danube River, as well as some lakes in the Fruška Gora National Park, are ideal places for recreational and sport fishing, while Novi Sad’s Štrand Beach is a favourite corner for summer fun and enjoyment by the water.
