Known for its good geographical position, Novi Sad is an ideal place for sports and recreational activities. Located in the plains, the city and the surrounding area are perfect for relaxing hiking, running along the river and cycling, while the immediate vicinity of Fruška Gora opens the door to a wide range of activities, including hiking, mountaineering, mountain biking and hunting.
The Danube provides outstanding opportunities for water sports, such as rowing and kayaking. Its shores, the Štrand City Beach, as well as parts of the Kameničko and Ribarsko ostrvo (Fishermen’s Island), attract fishermen and swimmers.
Novi Sad also has plenty of sports facilities. The most important are the Sports and Business Centre Vojvodina (SPENS) and the Karađorđe Stadium. These facilities meet not only the local recreational needs, but are also key for organizing major sporting events and events.
