Cultural station Svilara

Cultural stations are new spaces intended for cultural and artistic content in Novi Sad, created within the ‘Novi Sad 2022 –  European Capital of Culture’ project. Their goal is to actively involve citizens in creating a contemporary cultural identity of the city and relocate culture to all city neighbourhoods.

The Svilara Cultural station was created by restoring a former factory for silk dyeing and is located in the oldest part of the city, the Almaš neighbourhood. The characteristic high chimney has preserved the industrial heritage of the city to this day – this time, Svilara is one of the centres of cultural industry in Novi Sad. Artists, organisations, visitors, audiences and the youngest citizens have found their place here for exhibitions, concerts, literary evenings, forums or simply – a break. Svilara brought new creative energy to the Almaš neighbourhood and became an urban attraction on the cultural map of Novi Sad.
