SUMMARY:Mileva: We are one rock
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition consists of a very strong visual narrative that will approach the character and work of Mileva Marić Einstein in a striking and different way. It is certainly not a classic documentary and historical presentation\, but more of an art installation that leads visitors to the very centre of events within the new space designed for this occasion. The movement of the audience is conditioned by the displays\, which communicate with them all the time and make the space magical. The author consciously cancels daylight and thereby establishes complete control\, deliberately dividing the space in his composition into “light” and “dark”\, two parts that form one whole and cannot exist independently. This art exhibition is also unique because it was created through the creative use of the most modern technologies\, new media\, 3D animations\, digital sound\, and holograms\, as well as its fair share of the classical artistic language reflected in sculptures\, graphic design\, drawings and paintings. \nVenue: City Museum of Novi Sad \nThe programme can be found on the organiser’s website: https://museumns.rs

SUMMARY:“Spirit of the Place - The First Century of the District" Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The multimedia exhibition “Spirit of the Place – The First Century of the District” is a permanent display that dramatizes and thematizes the space of the District over time. Formerly an industrial complex and now the center of contemporary art\, the District has undergone an extraordinary journey over the last hundred years\, significantly shaping this space. This journey is both an inspiration and the core of the exhibition\, which\, through artistic and scenic means\, using methods of scenic design\, attempts to tell the lesser-known story to the audience. Divided into six stages\, from the founding of the factory\, through World War II and NATO bombing\, to the European Capital of Culture\, the exhibition\, through organization and the construction of space\, seeks to\, at times quite literally\, replicate the turbulence\, progress\, changes\, tragic fates\, chaos\, hope\, and cacophony of an era. Like a reflection in the mirror. Through six thematically\, experientially\, artistically\, and content-wise treated\, as well as physically separate rooms dedicated to specific periods\, the audience will\, through interaction with the rooms\, to a greater or lesser extent\, have the opportunity to learn something new\, to be reminded of the old and forgotten\, to directly participate\, play and explore\, with their senses and body. The specificity of the exhibition lies in the fact that\, although it deals with specific time\, place\, and events\, “Spirit of the Place” is not an archival exhibition of artifacts and facts but an exhibition of storytelling and creating new experiences. Its other specificity is the way it builds and questions the artistic work\, the room-work. Each of its six rooms is conceived as an installation\, and therefore each of them is built as such. Built in a parallel process where space\, time\, and the event taking place in space and time\, as well as the text it relies on\, are built simultaneously and are inseparable from each other. \nThe exhibition is open every day except Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. \nVenue: Creative District \nThe programme can be found on the organiser’s website: https://visitdistrikt.rs

SUMMARY:Vision and Heritage: Founders of the Gallery of Contemporary Novi Sad Artists
DESCRIPTION:The “Vision and Heritage” exhibition is dedicated to the artists who\, in 1963\, established the foundations of the first collection within the City Museum of Novi Sad to study contemporary art through museological principles. The display highlights the historical significance of twenty-one creators whose works formed the Gallery’s initial collection\, bestowing upon them the status of its founders. Through this showcase\, the Museum pays tribute to a generation whose artistic and pedagogical contributions fundamentally shaped the cultural identity of Novi Sad during the second half of the 20th century. \nToday\, the Local Heritage Gallery (Zavičajna galerija) preserves more than 3\,900 works by over 200 artists. This exhibition offers a unique insight into the origins of institutional collecting and the preservation of fine and applied arts. Visitors are invited to explore the works of prominent individuals whose influence extended far beyond local borders\, garnering international acclaim and establishing Novi Sad as a significant artistic centre. \nVenue: Collection of Foreign Art \nProgramme details: https://museumns.rs\, www.facebook.com/museumns

SUMMARY:Exhibition “Once Upon a Time in Belgrade... The World of Vidosava Kovačević”
DESCRIPTION:The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection presents an exceptional retrospective of the creative work of Vidosava Kovačević (1889–1913)\, a painter whose brief but intense artistic journey left a lasting mark on the Serbian art scene. This exhibition offers the audience an opportunity to explore the opus of an author who\, in less than a decade of work\, managed to demonstrate incredible artistic maturity and intuition. \nArtistic Development and Expressive Power\nThe exhibition “Once Upon a Time in Belgrade… The World of Vidosava Kovačević” documents the transitional period of Serbian civic modernism. The displayed works track her development – from early student drawings and copies created at the Arts and Crafts School to the embrace of contemporary movements such as Symbolism and Academic Impressionism. Special emphasis is placed on her Expressionist tendencies\, which were encouraged by the teachings of Rista and Beta Vukanović\, as well as Marko Murat. \nSocial Context and Family Heritage\nIn addition to works kept in the most significant national institutions\, such as the National Museum of Serbia and the Gallery of Matica Srpska\, the display includes personal items from the family estate. These artefacts illuminate the social context of Belgrade’s civic environment at the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition “Once Upon a Time in Belgrade… The World of Vidosava Kovačević” thus becomes more than just an art event; it is a window into the world of the intellectual elite and the atmosphere of the home of academician Ljubomir Kovačević\, where the artist grew up and shaped her talent. \n  \nVenue \nPavle Beljanski Memorial Collection (2 Trg Galerija (2 Gallery Square)) \nTicket Price \nAccording to the valid price list of the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection. \nInformation \nDetails regarding tickets\, accompanying programmes\, and guided tours are available on the official event pages: https://beljanskimuseum.rs\, www.facebook.com/spomenzbirka.pavlabeljanskog\, www.instagram.com/spomenzbirkapavlabeljanskog. \n

SUMMARY:The Art Collection of Matica Srpska
DESCRIPTION:In the year when Matica Srpska\, the oldest literary\, cultural\, and scientific society among the Serbs\, celebrates the great jubilee of two centuries since its founding\, the Gallery of Matica Srpska is organising the exhibition The Art Collection of Matica Srpska\, dedicated to presenting a unique artistic collection that has been continuously formed from 1826 to the present day. This exhibition\, through its carefully selected artworks\, represents the complex history and exceptional value of the art collection of Matica Srpska\, which developed alongside the institution itself and its enduring mission – care for the culture\, language\, literature\, artistic creativity\, and science of the Serbian people. \nSimultaneously\, with its programme and research activities\, Matica Srpska began systematically collecting portraits of its founders\, presidents\, secretaries\, honorary members\, and benefactors\, as well as distinguished public figures\, with the clear idea of forming a Pantheon of Distinguished Serbs. In addition to the portraits\, the art collection also includes numerous medals\, plaques\, diplomas\, and decorations that Matica Srpska has commissioned and received over two centuries of its existence\, on the occasions of important anniversaries and recognitions for its contributions to the development of Serbian culture and society. A significant part of the exhibition consists of a selection of the most important gifts and bequests that Matica Srpska received after the Second World War\, including donations from Lazar and Saveta Stojković\, Olga and Kosta Milutinović\, Sofija Šaškijević\, as well as Suzana and Borivoj Samolovčev. \nIn the rooms of the Gallery of Matica Srpska\, selected works from the Matica Srpska Collection will be presented\, while part of the collection housed in the Matica Srpska building will be accessible to the public through new technologies and multimedia content. The exhibition is accompanied by a documentary film produced by the Gallery of Matica Srpska\, directed and written by Miroslav Stajić. \nThe exhibition will be enriched by a diverse accompanying programme on Fridays at 19.00\, as well as curator-guided tours on weekends at 13.00 and 17.00. A family guide for parents with children will also accompany the exhibition\, in order to introduce even the youngest visitors to the importance and role of Matica Srpska. \nVenue: Gallery of Matica Srpska \nThe programme can be found on the organiser’s website: www.galerijamaticesrpske.rs

SUMMARY:Kaleidoscope: Solarov / Kulić / Ugren / Marinkov
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition Kaleidoscope: Solarov / Kulić / Ugren / Marinkov reflects the endeavour of the Gallery of Matica Srpska to view its own collection from a new perspective\, using the metaphor of a kaleidoscope to illustrate the intertwining of diverse artistic destinies. This showcase brings together the works of four prominent creators — Milan Solarov\, Mladen Marinkov\, Ratomir Kulić\, and Dragomir Ugren. Although they developed authentic poetics\, these artists were closely connected through their professional work in Novi Sad’s museum institutions and a long-standing friendship. \nArtistic Dialogue and the Virtue of Giving\nEach of these authors has left a significant mark on the holdings of the Gallery of Matica Srpska as a noble donor. Their gift collections symbolically meet within the “Zlatno Oko” (Golden Eye) Gallery space\, reconstructing a complex network of personal and cultural relationships that have shaped the local art scene for decades. The exhibition Kaleidoscope: Solarov / Kulić / Ugren / Marinkov employs an innovative curatorial approach: four experts from the Gallery analyse one oeuvre each from their specific perspectives\, creating a cohesive whole that re-examines the continuity of form\, language\, and minimalist expression. \nProgrammes for Visitors\nThe display offers a detailed insight into various media\, ranging from Solarov’s drawings and Marinkov’s bronze sculptures to Kulić’s exploration of artistic language and Ugren’s powerful colour fields. The programme of events includes curator-led tours on Fridays at 19:00 and expert interpretations during the weekends. For the youngest visitors and teenagers\, educational art workshops are organised on Saturdays\, bringing contemporary art closer to all generations. \nVenue\nGallery of Matica Srpska (Trg Galerija (Gallery Square) 1) \nTickets\nAccording to the valid price list of the Gallery of Matica Srpska \nInformation\nDetails regarding tickets\, accompanying programmes\, and expert tours are available on the official event pages:\nwww.galerijamaticesrpske.rs\, www.facebook.com/galerijamaticesrpske\, www.instagram.com/galerijamaticesrpske

SUMMARY:Walking Forest
DESCRIPTION:A New Eco-Cultural Performance in Novi Sad\nNovi Sad is becoming the hub of an innovative cultural and ecological initiative through a multi-week performance titled Walking Forest (Hodajuća šuma). This project explores the synergy between the city and nature by installing temporary urban tree installations in public spaces lacking natural greenery. The initiative is part of the international TARGET project\, implemented by the City Administration for Environmental Protection in cooperation with partner organisations from Serbia and Hungary. \nEcology and Art in the Service of Urban Greening\nThe primary goal of the Walking Forest is to enhance ecological awareness and assist the community in adapting to climate change. By using mobile planters with mature trees\, the TARGET project highlights the necessity of afforestation in densely populated urban areas. Beyond the aesthetic transformation of the city\, this performance serves as an educational platform for all generations\, encouraging dialogue on the future of sustainable development in Novi Sad. \nThree Locations and Participatory Programme for Citizens\nThe programme is planned across three phases. The installations will initially be placed in the Creative District (22 – 30 April)\, followed by the SPENS (Sports and Business Centre Vojvodina) plateau (4 – 20 May)\, while the final stage will be held at Trg Slobode (Liberty Square) (22 May – 5 June). A special segment includes the participatory research “Novi Sad Shade Map\,” where citizens directly participate in mapping locations with high heat stress. After the programme concludes\, all trees used will be permanently planted at selected locations across the city. \nEducational and Cultural Programmes for All Generations\nThe Walking Forest offers a rich supporting programme including professionally guided tours\, creative workshops for children\, and family activities. Educational modules have been prepared for school and preschool children\, while adults can participate in public discussions\, expert lectures\, as well as art\, film\, and music events. \nVenue\nCreative District\, SPENS plateau\, Liberty Square \nTickets\nAdmission to the event is free of charge \nInformation\nProgramme details are available by clicking HERE
