Days of Brazil – Novi Sad samba carnival is the festival that is held in Novi Sad every year by the middle of August. A diverse and interactive Festival programme provides the visitors with the insight into contemporary Brazilian society and culture through different forms of cultural-artistic expression: capoeira, samba percussion, and samba dancing workshops, exhibitions of photographs, paintings and artistic objects, presentation of Brazilian traditional cuisine and drinks, lectures, Brazilian film projections, public presentations of music and dancing achievements and carnival procession as the final Festival event. In co-operation with the local associations dealing with samba percussion, capoeira and samba dancing, this Festival is held at several sites in the city such as Petrovaradin Fortress and Štrand beach and it gathers annually several thousands of visitors. In addition to carnival procession that attracts incredible attention, the so-called “pacote” or spontaneous street gatherings of the participants for joint music playing, singing and dancing that contribute to memorable atmosphere of the Festival, due to which the visitors are always coming back to it, make a special allure of the Festival.
